Help: Setting up your authenticator app

Help, signing in and the front page

Every CEDARS account signs in with a second factor, an authenticator app on your phone or computer. Any app that shows six-digit time-based codes works.

Scan the QR code with the app, or type the key under it into the app. Then enter the code the app shows to finish. Keep the key somewhere safe; it sets the app up again on a new phone.

How to

• Copy the key copies it to the clipboard, for an app on the same computer.
• After this step CEDARS offers recovery codes. Print or save them; each signs you in once if you lose the app.

1. The QR code

   Scan it with your authenticator app. The app then shows a new six-digit code for CEDARS every 30 seconds.

2. The key, in words

   The same key the QR code holds, to type into an app that cannot scan.

3. Activate

   Enter the code the app shows and choose Activate. From now on you sign in with your password and a code.
